Intermodal connectionsAttractive travel chains are those which offer sensible combinations of different transport modes. Accordingly, one objective of transport policies is to create intelligent links. Stuttgart airport will act as an interface for such links. International and national air traffic will have optimum connections with long-distance, regional and S-Bahn trains and will also have convenient access to the road network via the A8 motorway.
This will provide Stuttgart airport with new connections to the long-distance and regional rail networks, while long-distance and regional rail traffic links up with national and international air routes.
The new station at the airport is a prime concern of the Land of Baden-Württemberg, as the interlinking of air and rail traffic is fully in line with the transport objectives of both the Federal government and the European Union.
