A genuine alternative
Fast trains are an environmentally compatible alternative to growing volumes of car and air traffic. The Stuttgart - Ulm rail project is intended to shift more traffic from road to rail.
Studies conducted by Stuttgart University have revealed that the rail project will shift around 18 million passenger journeys from road to rail every year. This is equivalent to approx. 350 million kilometres travelled by car, or a trip to the sun and back again. This will save around 70,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum.
